Sugar Cane & Co is a Japanese brand focusing on reconstructing the early days of vintage workwear history. The brand has roots that goes back to the 1950's but it wasen't until the late 80's that Sugar Cane started building the reputation for being one of the best denim makers in Japan and it is a reputation they still deserve!

One thing we really admire about Sugar Cane is the effort they put behind their garments, doing their best to recreate functional clothing from the past. They don't change too much but rather preserve the garments style and feeling!

Here's Sugar Cane's take on a 1940's style work pant. They feature a hammer loop and tool pockets that will fit some nifty stuff. The fit is relaxed and the 11oz. Hickory stripe fabric makes this pair of pants very comfy from the first time you put them on.

The hickory striped fabric was originally used by USN but also by work wear manufacturers, wearing a striped fabric made sure that one stayed visible which sure could come handy when no matter if you fell into the sea or if you wanted to avoid being hit by a train while working on the tracks. As one might know a wider stripe was also used in prisoners garments back in the day for the exact same reason so that the wearer stayed visible!

Hemming is always included when you purchase a pair of pants from us! Give us a comment during check out and we will shorten them before we send them. Keep in mind that you won't be able to return the pants if we alter the length for you.

For hemming, we'll use a vintage Union Special chain stitch sewing machine, to match the original seam of the jeans.
